Order your CAF preferences with confidence
The Common Application Form uses Equal Preference, which trips up a lot of families. Enter your postcode, rank your shortlist, and we'll show your realistic chance at each school and the offer you're most likely to receive — so you can order your choices without second-guessing the system.
How Equal Preference works — the key thing most parents get wrong
On the Common Application Form you rank schools, but grammar schools never see your ranking. Each school decides whether to offer you a place as if you'd put it first. Your order only decides which single offer you receive when more than one school would admit you — you get your highest-ranked qualifying school. So always list schools in your genuine order of preference: ranking a long-shot first never reduces your chance at a safer school below it.
